Treat yourself to something nice. In many small shops of the city centre you are sure to find something precious, playful or fresh and tasty. The streets of “Schmiedestraße”, “Schusterstraße”, “Puschkinstraße” and “Enge Straße” await you with arts and crafts, jewellery, designer pieces and small fashion boutiques. In “Friedrichstraße” you will find everything from antiques to jumble, from art galleries to high-quality audio and video systems. Besides, it is the street with the narrowest business house in town, the venerable cigar store “Preussler”. Close by, the street “Münzstraße” presents itself with timbered houses and extraordinary pieces of art, jewellery design and assorted fashion. The big shopping centre “Schlossparkcenter” offers a varied mix of goods in more than 120 shops. In the smaller shopping arcades like the “Wurm” or “Burgseegalerie” you can make a good bargain as well. All year round there are farmers, crafts and food markets on the Old Town’s market square, on the “Schlachtermarkt” and in other places, where they trade local produce. Among the highlights is the large pottery market in July and the popular “Martensmarkt” with its medieval stalls in November.
